We were in Rippingale today fitting a Parkray consort 5 wood only stove. We fitted it into the existing fireplace using a Duraflue chimney lining system and a stainless steel closure plate at the base of the chimney opening.
The customer had had the floor tiled into the fireplace and didn’t want a separate hearth, so to comply with regulations they have had a fender made for the floor to mark a clear and defined hearth area.
After that it was on to Stamford to fit some chimney caps for a lady who has had her internal chimney stack taken down and wants to protect the remaining chimney breast in the 1st floor rooms from damp issues.
When capping off a flue it is important that you allow air to still move through the chimney otherwise there will be problems with condensation forming in the cavity and then penetrating through the wall causing unsightly damp patches.
If you have any issues with your chimney or fire feel free to contact us here at Alfred Poppins LTD and we are more than happy to assist you in getting the right solution.
